OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - State health officials say it’s time for students to get all their recommended vaccines before they return to school.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health reminded residents Monday that vaccines are important for children of all ages especially when they are in a setting such as a school or a child care center where disease outbreaks can occur.
The agency says the shots are for babies starting at a new child care facility, preschoolers, students going back to elementary, middle or high school or college freshman.
Health officials say child care facilities, preschool programs, schools and colleges are all at risk for disease outbreaks. Kids can easily transmit illnesses to one another due to poor hand washing, uncovered coughs, close contact with people and other factors.
