SPRINGFIELD, Vt. (AP) - A former tool manufacturing plant and a defunct paper mill have been selected to be part of Vermont’s Brownfield Economic Revitalization Alliance program.

The Eagle Times reports ( ) the program helps speed up brownfield redevelopment projects with less cost and effort by communities.

The former Robertson Paper Co. in Bellow Falls and the Jones and Lamson building in Springfield are included in the program.

The paper company will be redeveloped into new industrial space after environmental contamination is cleaned up. The Bellow Falls Area Development Corporation received a $130,000 grant that will allow work there to continue.

The Jones and Lamson plant has been vacant for more than 30 years and has fallen into disrepair. The industrial use of the building resulted in environmental contamination that needs to be cleaned.
