Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said she thought it would be “fun” to go to Donald Trump’s 2005 wedding — an attendance the businessman and 2016 GOP presidential candidate has characterized as somewhat of a business transaction.

“I didn’t know him that well,” the Democratic presidential front-runner told reporters Monday in New Hampshire. “I mean I knew him, I knew him and I happened to be planning to be in Florida and I thought it’d be fun to go to his wedding because it’s always entertaining. Now that he’s running for president, it’s a little more troubling.

“It’s entertainment,” she said. “It’s all entertainment. … I mean, I think he’s having the time of his life, you know, being up on that stage, saying whatever he wants to say, getting people excited, both for and against him.”

Mr. Trump said during last week’s GOP presidential debate that Mrs. Clinton had “no choice” but to attend because of a donation.

He said Tuesday it sounded like Mrs. Clinton feels like she made a mistake.

“For my whole life, I’ve been a businessperson — I would give to everybody,” he said on “Fox and Friends.” “And frankly, people treated me nicely, they always returned my calls, etcetera, etcetera — and that’s not really a good thing for the system. I mean, the system is based on that.”
