COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Police have arrested a 62-year-old woman accused of feeding bears at her Colorado Springs home.

Jo Ann Medina was arrested after numerous warnings and citations that span multiple years. Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials said Thursday that investigators spotted six bears stopping by her home for meals.

The Gazette reports (https://goo.gl/UBo4k5 ) Medina pleaded guilty in March 2013 to a similar charge of knowingly luring bears the previous December. In an interview with the newspaper in 2013, she disputed that bears had been aggressive in the area, saying they had merely preferred her yard for the apples and acorns that fell from her trees.

Wildlife officials say bears that have become habituated to humans and domestic food can become aggressive and lose their natural instincts to forage.
