GILFORD, N.H. (AP) - Lake Winnipesaukee Sailing Association officials have dedicated a new sailing center in New Hampshire to a student, instructor and racer who died in 2006 after a decade-long battle with several illnesses.

The Laconia Citizen reports (https://bit.ly/1JgTkqA ) sailors, public officials and family members of Dave Adams gathered on the shore of Smith Cove Wednesday to dedicate the Dave Adams Memorial Sailing Center.

A plaque presented at the dedication says Adams was “nuts about sailing” and a student and instructor at the association’s sailing school in the 1990s.

Adams died when he was 25 after a 10-year battle with several illnesses, including cancer. The ailments arose from complications after a bone marrow transplant.
