CULLOWHEE, N.C. (AP) - An 18-year-old high school senior is charged with killing his mother, whom authorities say also was sexually assaulted.

Multiple media outlets reported that Daniel Aaron Sellers is charged with murder in the death of 46-year-old Jennifer Sellers. She was found dead Wednesday inside her Cullowhee home.

Jackson County Sheriff Chip Hall says Sellers will be transferred to a state prison better suited to handle his medical needs. Court documents say Sellers is a danger to himself and others.

Court documents also say the victim was sexually assaulted. Hall didn’t respond to a message left by The Associated Press seeking the cause of death.

Authorities say she was a widow with three other children.

Sellers’ court appearance is set for Aug. 27. It wasn’t known if he has an attorney.
