CARLIN, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified the driver of a U-Haul truck who was killed on Interstate 80 in northeast Nevada in a crash on an exit ramp near Carlin as 55-year-old Dorinda Edwards of Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Edwards was declared dead at the scene shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Trooper Jim Stewart told the Elko Daily Free Press (https://tinyurl.com/plybqp4 ) a preliminary investigation indicates she did not attempt to brake before she slammed into the back of a semi-trailer truck waiting at a stop sign on the exit ramp in Carlin just west of Elko.
One of two dogs in the rental truck also was killed. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
