POLLOCK, La. (AP) - State police say a 7-year-old Pollock girl died when the car she was a passenger in crashed into the back of an 18-wheeler.

Master Trooper Scott Moreau said in a news release Adrein Silk, who was wearing her seat belt while sitting in the front passenger seat, died at the scene of Thursday’s wreck on U.S. Highway 165 north of Pollock.

Moreau says 26-year-old Kristopher L. Silk, of Pollock, was traveling southbound on U.S. 165 “at a high rate of speed.”

He says Kristopher Silk hit the rear of a 2015 Freightliner driven by 49-year-old Jason L. Smith, of Dry Prong.

Silk was taken to Rapides Regional Trauma Center with moderate injuries. It’s unknown if he was wearing his seat belt.

Smith was not injured.
