FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A North Dakota man has pleaded guilty to an assault that injured a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer.
Brandon Belgarde, of Rugby, pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon, and assaulting and resisting a federal officer. In exchange for the deal, a third charge of damage to government property will be dismissed at sentencing.
Authorities say Belgarde rammed his vehicle into a BIA vehicle during a November 2014 traffic stop.
Belgarde faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison on the two counts. Sentencing is set for Nov. 9 in Bismarck.
