Hillary Rodham Clinton’s presidential campaign is airing a new TV ad in which vows to boost incomes and expand opportunity for the middle class, saying she wants to recreate the economy from “when I came of age.”

In the 30-second spot, Mrs. Clinton invokes her family story — how her mother never attended college but was able to see her daughter graduate from law school — to demonstrate her commitment to fighting for working Americans.

“When you see that you’ve got CEOs making 300 times what the average worker’s making you know the deck is stacked in favor of those at the top,” Mrs. Clinton says into the camera.

She pledged to “reshuffle” the deck to give the middle class a fair deal.

The ad features family photos of Mrs. Clinton as a child with her mother and of her graduating from law school, as well as footage on Mrs. Clinton on the campaign trail interacting with workers at job sites.

By mixing elements of Mrs. Clinton’s biography with her central campaign theme of fighting income inequality, the ad attempts to connect with voters on a personal level, a connection that some voters have said is missing from her campaign.

“I want it to be back where it was when I came of age. Where my mom who never got to go to college could see her daughter go to law school,” she says. “We need to have people believing that their work will be rewarded. So I’m going to be doing everything I can to try to get that deck reshuffled so being middle class means something again.”

The ad will begin running this week in early-voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire as part of a previously announced $2 million buy of five weeks of ad time in the two states, according to the campaign.
