They mystery has been solved: A presidential candidate running under the name “Deez Nuts” has been revealed as 15-year-old Iowan Brady Olson.

What undoubtedly started as a teenage prank has now become a national phenomenon with polls showing Deez Nuts pulling 9 percent in North Carolina.

Deez Nuts has gained a cult following on social media, with the world dying to know the identity of the mystery independent.

Speaking to The Guardian, Brady said he was amazed at the campaign’s popularity.

“Right now it’s mainly just the name recognition, but hopefully as we go down the stretch people will actually take the time to look at my campaign website and look at my platform,” he said.

According to his campaign website, Deez Nuts is for the immediate deportation of illegal immigrants, pro-gay marriage, supports the Iran nuclear deal and believed government salaries should be tied to the state of the U.S. economy.

Brady, a high school student from Wallingford, Iowa, revealed himself in an email interview.

“My name is not Deez Nuts,” he wrote, The Guardian reported. “I am a 15-year-old who filled out a form, had the campaign catch on fire, and am now putting up the best third-party numbers since Ross Perot.”

Darrell West, vice president and director of governance at the Brookings Institution, confirmed that with his polling numbers, Deez Nuts is indeed at the crest of the most successful independent campaign since Mr. Perot in 1996.

Brady said his family and friends at school are aware of his campaign and “they think it’s hilarious.”

Deez Nuts has even been endorsed by a punk rock band of the same and became the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter Wednesday night.

However, a 15-year-old cannot be elected president under the U.S. Constitution.

The teen told The Guardian he was “shocked by the responses at first, but then remembered this is American media and they find everything.”

“It’s been really fun so far,” he said. “I just hope that we can actually do something memorable in 2016 that we all could remember forever.”
