EASTON, Pa. (AP) - A defense attorney says his client will argue self-defense in his upcoming trial in the stabbing death of a friend who was dating his ex-girlfriend.
Twenty-five-year-old Andrew Hess of Nazareth is charged in Northampton County in the July 2014 death of 36-year-old Richard Parker of Nazareth in a Moore Township garage in Moore Township.
Defense attorney Thomas Joachim said Friday that Hess had been placed in a headlock and felt like he was going to lose consciousness, and he also feared a loaded gun he knew Parker kept in the garage.
His ex-girlfriend has testified that she and Parker were awakened by loud knocking, and he went to see who it was and was stabbed.
Prosecutors allege that the killing was premeditated and are seeking a first-degree murder conviction.
