FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Fort Wayne police say a teenage girl was fatally shot in a shootout between two groups.

Police say the shootout occurred at a gathering at a home shortly before midnight Saturday on the city’s southeast side. Police say they don’t know whether it was gang related.

Police say the girl was shot while trying to run for cover. When officers arrived they found the girl in the street in critical condition. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Police have not released the victim’s name.



No other injuries were reported. Several vehicles were struck by gunfire.
