DURHAM, N.H. (AP) - University of New Hampshire officials say the college received a record number of applications this year - about 2,000 more than last year.
Foster’s Daily Democrat quotes college officials (https://bit.ly/1hMFEI8 ) as saying they received more than 19,000 applications and chose 3,280 first-year students - a slight increase from last year.
Classes begin Monday.
Erika Mantz - director of media relations for the school - said about 1,200 of the first-year students are from New Hampshire and 2,200 come from other states and 20 different countries.
The majority of the incoming students - about 650 - are liberal arts majors. The average high school grade point average of the new students is 3.4, Mantz said.
