PEORIA, Ill. (AP) - An 88-year-old woman in Peoria alleges that more than $20,000 in jewelry has been stolen from her home.

A Peoria police report says the woman reported $22,500 missing from a jewelry box in her home’s bedroom last week. She says she last saw the jewelry on Wednesday and then noticed pieces were missing when she went to get money from the box around 10:30 p.m. on Friday.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/1KvHOXt ) that the woman said the jewelry includes a $10,000 watch, two rings worth about $12,000 and a $500 tie pin.

The woman told police that the windows in the home were locked but that the front door hadn’t been locking.
