MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (AP) - The wife of a Vermont bicyclist who died in a bike-car crash has filed a lawsuit against the driver and state police.

Sixty-year-old Ken Najarian of Charlotte was killed June 17 when he was riding his bicycle and collided with a car driven by 36-year-old Holly Gonyeau of Ferrisburgh. Authorities concluded the primary cause of the collision was Najarian’s attempt to make a U-turn.

Gonyeau has pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge.

The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/1MWN1YF ) Kristine Najarian filed suit against Gonyeau and the Vermont State Police in Chittenden County on behalf of her late husband.

Najarian’s lawyer said he wanted experts to check Gonyeau’s car before Vermont State Police released it to the family for repairs.

Gonyeau’s lawyer didn’t respond to requests for comment.
