RAYNHAM, Mass. (AP) - A family-owned flower shop in Raynham has shut its doors after nearly a century in business.
The Enterprise (https://bit.ly/1KyMyvv ) reports that Hannant the Florist in Raynham closed Saturday. Owner Kathy Gannaway says she’s looking forward to retirement.
The 92-year-old shop was founded by Sydney Hannant and his wife, Sophia, who would eventually pass the shop to their son Lester and his wife, Isabelle. They turned the shop over to Gannaway, their niece, in 1986.
Gannaway says she hates to go, but “it’s time.”
Each customer who came into the shop on Saturday to say goodbye received a free rose.
It’s unclear what well come of the building that includes a small shop and greenhouse.
