HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A jobs recovery has come to New England.

The U.S. Department of Labor reported Thursday that unemployment rate decreases over the year were significant in all six states.

The jobless rate in New England in June was mostly unchanged at 4.8 percent, a half-percentage point lower than the national jobless rate of 5.3 percent.

Unemployment rates of 3.6 percent in Vermont and 3.8 percent in New Hampshire are considered significantly lower than the U.S. rate.

Unemployment declined the most over the year in Rhode Island, by 1.8 percentage points. Declines were 1.1 points in Massachusetts and 0.5 percent each in New Hampshire and Vermont.

Over the month, Connecticut was the only New England state that had a “statistically significant” unemployment rate change, falling by 0.3 percentage points, to 5.7 percent.
