LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Congresswoman Candice Miller of Michigan is calling on state Rep. Todd Courser to resign following a report that he used his office to try to conceal an extramarital relationship with a fellow Michigan lawmaker.
The statement from the Macomb County Republican says Courser “has proven to be completely unfit to represent the hardworking residents of Lapeer County, using taxpayer dollars to abide and assist his gross misconduct.”
A Michigan House leader requested an investigation into allegations published by The Detroit News that Courser orchestrated the distribution of a fictional email claiming he had sex with a male prostitute in a bid to conceal a relationship with fellow GOP state Rep. Cindy Gamrat.
Meanwhile, liberal advocacy group Progress Michigan says if they used public resources for a cover-up they should resign.
