GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A Grand Rapids company that distributes craft supplies is looking to hire 550 workers amid increasing demand for its products.
The Grand Rapids Press (https://bit.ly/1ggK48L ) reports about 400 of those jobs at Notions Marketing will be part-time and temporary to meet an increase in orders during the holiday season. The firm announced Thursday it’s also adding 100 full-time jobs and 50 permanent part-time positions.
Notions Marketing president Adrienne Stevens says the company’s growth is due to a crafting boom and the rise of Internet commerce. The company currently employs more than 800 people, and has already added 250 jobs this year.
The company’s sales have grown 30 percent in the past two years. Customers include independent stores and retailers such as Amazon and Wal-Mart.
