GEORGETOWN, Del. (AP) - A Rehoboth Beach man has been sentenced to 14 ½ years in prison for his role in the death of his 3-month-old son.

Twenty-two-year-old Sidney Davis III pleaded guilty to second-degree murder by abuse or neglect in the death of Zha-Den Davis and the assault of Zha-Den’s twin, Haven.

He was sentenced Friday in Sussex County Superior Court.

Prosecutors say on May 10, 2014, Davis called 911 and said Zha-den Davis was not breathing. The infant was rushed to a hospital and died the next day. The medical examiner ruled that the infant died of head trauma, and prosecutors said that Davis shook the child.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports (https://delonline.us/1NfpPDb ) that in court, Davis said, “I’m not a murderer,” and that he didn’t mean to kill Zha-den.
