DECATUR, Ill. (AP) - A 39-year-old Mount Zion man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison in the drowning death of his wife.

The (Decatur) Herald & Review reports that (https://bit.ly/1hq66XD ) Chad Cutler’s sentence was handed down Friday by Macon County Associate Judge James Coryell.

A jury in June convicted Cutler of first-degree murder for drowning his wife, Lisa Cutler, in a bathtub in their Mount Zion home.

She was a 47-year-old Spanish teacher at Eisenhower High School.

Prosecutors say Lisa Cutler was killed shortly after her husband obtained $700,000 in life insurance, payable to him if she died accidentally. That was in addition to an existing $500,000 policy.
