PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Maine’s summer and fall hunting season for crows is under way throughout the state as hundreds of residents seek to bag the big black birds.
The state’s two hunting seasons take place in the winter and early spring and the summer and early fall. This season began Aug. 1 and lasts until Sept. 25 all over the state. The other season runs from Jan. 23 to March 31 in most of the state and Feb. 7 to April 15 in some parts of far northern Maine.
Maine’s hunting season for crow began more than 40 years ago. State officials say the hunt can help farmers that view crows as pests.
