BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) - Boca Raton police say a teen shot his 15-year-old friend when his pistol accidentally fired while he tried to put it in his back pocket.

The teens were at Boomers on Saturday night with a group of friends when the suspect said he tried to move a .25 pistol from his front pocket to his back pocket. He accidently pulled the trigger and shot his friend in the leg. The teen told officers he put the pistol in a trash can.

The Associated Press is not naming the teens because they are minors.

Witnesses said there was no altercation leading up to the shooting. The Palm Beach post (https://tinyurl.com/o2hlrz4 ) reports authorities also found that the gun was stolen.

The teen was charged with resisting arrest without violence and possession of a stolen firearm. Another male juvenile was charged with simple battery for hitting a witness.
