LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Attorneys for the Albany County Assessor are asking District Court to reverse a 2013 decision by the Albany County Board of Equalization that found a University of Wyoming apartment complex is not subject to county property taxes.

The Bison Run Village apartments, located east of War Memorial Stadium, opened in the fall of 2012 and houses about 330 students. The university manages and operates the complex but does not own it.

The Laramie Boomerang reports (https://bit.ly/1m6EtW6 ) that on Monday, attorneys filed a brief asking the court to reverse the county board’s decision,

In July, the Wyoming State Board of Equalization ruled that the development was subject to property taxes. The university in August appealed the ruling in District Court.

The annual property tax bill at stake is about $70,000.
