LOS ANGELES (AP) - Strong northwest winds are persisting across parts of Southern California a day after gusts toppled big-rigs on their sides on desert highways north of Los Angeles.

The National Weather Service says the winds will be felt through Wednesday morning in mountains, valleys and desert areas.

Forecasters say gusts in some areas could reach 60 mph. They warn that driving could be dangerous, especially for high-profile vehcles, and motorists could encounter areas of blowing dust and sand that reduce visibility to near zero.
