COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (AP) - About 11,000 homes and businesses in northern Idaho didn’t have power Thursday due to snow accumulating on trees and power lines and causing damage.

The Spokesman-Review reports (https://bit.ly/1NEpFXz) that Kootenai Electric Cooperative is trying to restore power to about 6,000 customers and Avista Utilities is working on getting power to about 5,000 customers.

Power company officials say heavy snowfall in the last several days has built up on trees that have broken and fallen on power lines.

Authorities say additional power outages are possible as snow continues in the region.
