DE PERE, Wis. (AP) - A Wisconsin family has gone on a pie-baking blitz to thank local police officers who rallied to their aid after thieves made off with some gifts.
The Berreau family of De Pere rushed Wednesday to finish a dozen apple pies to deliver Thursday to police departments in their city and nearby Green Bay. WBAY-TV (https://bit.ly/1RIAM5y ) reports that it’s a happy ending to a week that started on a sour note.
On Monday, Lynnette Berreau discovered that thieves broke into her garage and stole presents for her children, relatives and friends. They also took bikes, skates and food from a chest freezer.
A day after alerting police, she got a visit from the dispatcher bearing flowers, gift cards and cash the departments collected so the family could salvage its Christmas.
