PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Maine has forwarded the names of Hot Lotto game winners to Iowa, but so far there’s no link to a Multi-State Lottery Association official implicated in a jackpot-fixing case.

The Portland Press Herald reports that the cooperation by Maine officials comes as authorities in other states look into whether their lottery jackpots were compromised in an elaborate scheme by Eddie Tipton, a former lottery official in Iowa.

Tipton was convicted in July of a scheme in which he rigged the selection of winning numbers in games that use random number generators to win millions. Tipton, who denies the allegations, is scheduled to stand a second trial next month.

All told, officials have linked him to tainted winnings in five states. So far, there’s no evidence to link him to Maine.
