BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A 22-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to stabbing another woman to death during a fight at a Billings bar.

The Billings Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/16N8VMt) Jamie Jo Broken Rope pleaded guilty Tuesday to deliberate homicide for the Sept. 5 death of 29-year-old Ruthie Martinez.

District Judge Michael Moses scheduled Broken Rope’s sentencing for April 17.

Prosecutors are recommending a 60-year prison term, plus restitution. Public defender Steven Scott will be allowed to argue for a shorter sentence.

Court records say a witness told police she had been at the bar with Martinez, who got into an argument with Broken Rope in the bathroom. The witness said she separated the women and told them to go outside, where the fight continued. Martinez was stabbed several times, including in the neck.

Officers recovered the knife from a storm drain.
