BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - Authorities have filed home invasion and auto vandalism charges against a 17-year-old boy who remains hospitalized in critical condition after a shootout with Bay City police that also left an officer wounded.
Police say the boy pulled a gun and opened fire on Officer Brandon Murphy, who was investigating a break-in at a house Feb. 2. Police say Murphy returned fire and shot the teen.
The Bay County prosecutor’s office issued a warrant against the teen Thursday. State police continue investigating the shootout.
County Prosecutor Kurt C. Asbury tells The Bay City Times (https://bit.ly/16PPK4L ) the teen hasn’t been arraigned, is on a ventilator and can’t talk.
Bay City Public Safety Director Michael J. Cecchini says the teen’s in critical condition, while the officer is recovering at home.
