RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) - A Long Island teenager has been charged with making a bomb threat against Bishop McGann-Mercy High School in Riverhead.

Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1y7kJzB ) reports that Michael Calandra was charged Monday by Riverhead Town police with second-degree falsely reporting an incident.

Police said school administrators reported that a threatening note had been found on school property. Details of the note were not released.



It was not immediately clear if Calandra, who is from Islandia, was a student at the school.

The 17-year-old was given an appearance ticket for arraignment at a later date in Riverhead Justice Court. The name of his attorney was not immediately known.
