NEW BROCKTON, Ala. (AP) - A jail guard in Coffee County has been accused of stealing money and smuggling prison contraband.

WSFA-TV (https://bit.ly/1zb9rvv ) reports Larry Hayden Osborn is charged with third-degree theft of property and second-degree promoting prison contraband. He was released from prison on a $13,500 bond and fired from his job.

Officials accuse Osborn of taking money from inmates during booking. He’s also accused of smuggling contraband items to least one inmate in the jail.

A phone listing for Hayden could not be found. It was unclear Thursday whether he had a defense attorney.
