Veteran right-hander Heath Bell and second baseman Dan Uggla highlight a list of 20 non-roster invitees announced by the Nationals on Thursday.

Thirteen of those players were signed to minor league contracts, the team announced, and the remaining seven will attend major league spring training after spending last season in the organization’s minor league system. Bell, a three-time all-star, and Uggla, who spent most of the past four years with the Atlanta Braves, are among several well-known major league veterans in the group.

The Nationals will also welcome longtime Red Sox right-hander Manny Delcarmen, 2010 all-star reliever Evan Meek, former Red Sox outfielder Mike Carp and veteran third baseman Ian Stewart to their facility in Viera, Fla, later this month. Left-hander Matt Purke, first baseman Matt Skole and infielder Cutter Dykstra, son of three-time all-star Lenny, are among the invitees currently in Washington’s system.

The list features nine pitchers, seven infielders, three catchers and one outfielder. Those players will compete with others currently on the Nationals’ 40-man roster for a handful of expected openings on the major league club, specifically in the bullpen and on the bench.

Pitchers and catchers are due in Viera on Wednesday, and all players must report by Feb. 24. The team’s first full-squad workout is Feb. 26.
