LONGSTREET, La. (AP) - State police say three men have died from injuries suffered in a train-truck crash in DeSoto Parish near Longstreet.
Trooper Matt Harris says 23-year-old John Watson, of Centerville, was driving a pickup on a private road when he drove into the path of a Union Pacific freight train about 1 p.m.
Harris says Watson as well as his passengers, 24-year-old Michael Ryder II, of Goldonna, and 35-year-old Herbert Barras III, of Charenton, were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
He says Watson and Ryder were pronounced dead at the scene by the DeSoto Parish coroner’s office and Barras was transported to a Shreveport hospital in critical condition.
Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle told The Times (https://bit.ly/1EL9QIH ) Tuesday that Barras died overnight.
