HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Gov. Tom Wolf has named fellow Democrat Tim Holden as chairman of the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board.
Wolf announced the appointment of Holden, a former congressman, on Tuesday.
Holden succeeds Skip Brion, a Republican, who will continue to serve on the three-member board.
Some Republican legislators want to privatize the state-run system of wine and liquor stores. Wolf, who opposes privatization, says he’s counting on Holden to make the operation more transparent and improve customer service.
Holden, a member of the liquor board since 2013, served in Congress from 1993 to 2012.
He lives in St. Clair in Schuylkill County.
