ESCALANTE, Utah (AP) - A rural town in southern Utah has at least temporarily lost its only police officer.
Escalante Mayor Jerry Taylor confirmed Thursday Police Chief Kevin Worlton was placed on administrative leave with pay on Jan. 12 while the state attorney general’s office conducts an unspecified investigation.
Taylor told the Sale Lake Tribune (https://tinyurl.com/ky3xcg2) he doesn’t know why Worlton is under investigation. He says Garfield County sheriff’s deputies are policing the town in his absence.
