DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - A Des Moines woman who says her father persuaded her to rob a Davenport bank for him has been sentenced to two years of probation.
The Quad-City Times reports (https://bit.ly/1vlqVcj ) that prosecutors dropped 23-year-old Mercedes Griebe’s second-degree robbery charge in response to her October guilty plea. Her father, 45-year-old Albert Griebe, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit bank robbery and aiding and abetting an attempted bank robbery. He will be sentenced in late April.
According to court documents, Albert Griebe says he convinced his daughter to rob a U.S. bank in July. Authorities say Mercedes Griebe failed on her first try, but that she tried again two days later and stole nearly $10,000.
An attorney for Mercedes Griebe could not be reached.
