BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - A Bridgeport woman has been charged with a felony in the motor vehicle death of an 89-year-old pedestrian.

The Connecticut Post reports (https://bit.ly/1EcGFjK ) that police charged Denise Purzycki with evading responsibility causing serious, physical injury or death, a felony. Police say she struck Martin Monahan on Dec. 6. He died Saturday.

The 61-year-old Purzycki also was charged with failure to render due care to a pedestrian.

She was taken into custody Wednesday. It was not known Friday morning if she’s represented by a lawyer.

Police say Purzycki did not stop after she struck Monahan and was chased by a witness blowing the car’s horn until she pulled over.

Police say she thought she hit a curb.

She was released on $25,000 bond and is set to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court March 3.
