PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Portland police homicide detectives have made an arrest in the case of a 22-year-old woman whose body was found in the Willamette River.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says the woman’s 22-year-old boyfriend was detained after Multnomah County sheriff’s divers found her body Thursday morning.

Late Thursday night, detectives arrested the man, Nicholas Ross Estrada, for investigation of murder. He’s due in court Friday.

Simpson says the victim’s name will be released Friday after an autopsy.

Officers had talked Wednesday afternoon to the boyfriend, who reported that his girlfriend had disappeared during the previous night as they camped along the river in north Portland’s Kelley Point Park.

Due to what Simpson called suspicious circumstances, officers asked for homicide detectives and crime scene specialists.
