SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The owner of Real Salt Lake has revoked an offer to develop an 8,000-seat minor league soccer stadium at the Utah State Fairpark.
Owner Dell Loy Hansen announced the decision Wednesday afternoon, saying the timing and process of getting the project approved no longer makes it a viable option.
Hansen had offered to cover the costs of the $18 million stadium but the fairpark officials needed legislative approval to circumvent a request for proposals from other parties interested in the site.
Legislators have not yet taken steps to do so and they have only a few weeks left in their annaul session.
The offer was seen as key to revitalizing the aging park.
