LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A former Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality leader has been picked to direct the state agency responsible for housing and treating the state’s youth offenders.
Marcus Devine will start March 9 as director of the state Division of Youth Services. The position has been vacant for nearly four months after former director Tracy Steele resigned.
Devine previously served as one of two deputy directors of the Arkansas Department of Human Services between February 1999 and March 2000.
Human Services Director John Selig said Wednesday that Devine’s management skills and knowledge of the legislative process and DHS made him uniquely qualified for his new position.
Human Services Deputy Director Keesa Smith served as interim director while the department searched for a new director.
