ELKO, Nev. (AP) - The Elko City Council has settled on a Utah firm to build the town’s new police station.
Community Development Manager Jeremy Draper tells the Elko Daily Free Press (https://tinyurl.com/pyrjrwj) construction should begin in late March or early April and could be completed by the end of the year.
City officials have been discussing the need for a new police facility for about nine years.
The council voted Tuesday to award the $5.4 million contract to MGM Construction of North Salt Lake City.
Draper says the bid came in well below the $6.1 million the city had budgeted for the project. He says seven companies submitted bids and all of them were competitive.
