CHARLOTTE, Mich. (AP) - A woman is charged in the death of her 76-year-old mother who lived with her at a Lansing-area hotel.

The Eaton County sheriff’s department says 53-year-old Robin Sanford and her son 23-year-old Tyler Sanford face charges of involuntary manslaughter and first-degree abuse of a vulnerable adult. Robin Sanford is jailed pending a March 16 hearing.

Her lawyer Lucas Dillon tells The Associated Press they dispute the charges and are planning a defense.

The Lansing State Journal reports (https://on.lsj.com/17AQwTz ) Tyler Sanford will be arraigned March 4. He didn’t have a lawyer on record yet.

They’re charged in the death of Nancy Belen, who lived at a Red Roof Inn in Delta Township. Capt. Tim Jungel says Belen was neglected for “quite some time.” She died in January 2014 at a hospital.
