OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma City police say a 14-year-veteran of the department has been charged with pawning various police equipment at a local pawn shop.

Police Capt. Paco Balderrama says Sgt. Travis Smith was charged Friday with 10 felony counts of making a false declaration to a pawn broker.

Smith has been on paid administrative leave since November, when police launched a criminal investigation into the matter.

Court records do not list an attorney for Smith, and a telephone message left at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 123 was not immediately returned.
