HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - A Hagerstown company says it plans to open a chain of movie theaters under the name Warehouse Cinemas.
Privately held High Rock Holdings LLC operates Leitersburg Cinemas, a first-run theater near Hagerstown. The company says it’s looking for a location in Frederick County or Carroll County to launch a chain of first-run cinemas under the Warehouse brand.
High Rock also says it’s considering reopening the Waynesboro Theater in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, under a lease agreement. The renovated cinema would resume its former business of showing second-run movies.
High Rock President Rich Daughtridge says that despite the movie industry’s ups and downs, he thinks the future of movie-going is strong.
He says attendance at Leitersburg Cinemas has more than tripled since High Rock reopened it in 2010.
