KELSO, Wash. (AP) - A Cowlitz County sheriff’s officer says a woman is dead after an Amtrak passenger train hit her car at a crossing south of Kelso, Washington.

The Daily News of Longview reports (https://is.gd/val2qD ) that Chief Deputy Charlie Rosenzweig says it appears the woman was trying to get to the crossing before the train on Monday afternoon.

The deputy says the crossing does not have flashing lights or arm bars. It does have railroad crossing signs.
