FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Fort Worth police are trying to identify a woman and a child whose bodies were discovered in a field.

Investigators are also trying to determine whether a car found wrecked earlier Tuesday had anything to do with the deaths.

No causes of death were immediately released in a case being investigated by homicide and traffic officers.

Police on Tuesday morning received 911 calls from people passing by to report a car was seen smashed into a tree in a field. A man repairing a nearby fence later reported finding the bodies of a woman and the child about 500 feet from the crash scene.

Police didn’t immediately release the age or gender of the child.

Further details weren’t immediately available.
