NEW YORK (AP) - New York City police say a man is accused of fatally beating his roommate with a hammer during an argument over money.

Officers found the victim, Jesse Smith, with severe a head injury at the men’s Queens apartment on Monday.

Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1DFqc8s ) says 29-year-old Smith was a lawyer and a native of Sea Cliff, Long Island.



The suspect, 18-year-ld Quentin Capobianco, was arraigned Tuesday on second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon with intent to use. Bail was set at $250,000 bond or $125,000 cash. He’s due in court Jan. 30. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.

Smith’s father told Newsday his son was a graduate of Hofstra University law school. He says his son hired Capobianco to work with him in his fledgling law practice.
