NEWARK, Del. (AP) - A Wilmington teenager has been charged with assault and other counts in the stabbing of a 17-year-old boy during a robbery.

New Castle County Police say the 17-year-old arrived to Christiana Hospital with multiple stab wounds on Monday afternoon. The teen said he was in a shopping center in Pike Creek to meet a friend, when the friend got in his car and began stabbing him.

The teen identified his friend as 18-year-old Benjamin Lepore. Police later arrested Lepore at his workplace.

Police say they believe Lepore had intended to rob his friend.

Lepore is charged with first-degree assault and robbery, possession of a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence. He’s being held in lieu of a $182,000 cash bail.

It’s unclear whether he has an attorney.
